Overview

In 2024, during the 800th anniversary of the University of Naples Federico II, the Department of Physics inaugurated the first edition of Stupor Quanti – The Wonders of Quantum Mechanics.

Event Details

The inaugural edition of Stupor Quanti was held on March 22, 2024, in the Caianello Hall at the Department of Physics, University of Naples Federico II. The event featured a keynote lecture by Seth Lloyd, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Physics at MIT, focusing on the interplay of information and complex quantum systems.

The selected Juvenum Quanta, Maria Gorizia Ammendola, presented her work on quantum simulations with structured light, focusing specifically on a large-scale photonic circuit implemented through liquid crystal metasurfaces. Then, a dynamic discussion that explored the broader implications of quantum mechanics, from foundational principles to cutting-edge applications, ended the event.
